My Approach to Individual Therapy

This relational lens guides my work with clients, focusing on how your relationships - past, present, and future - shape your sense of self and your experience in the world.

I work to create a judgment-free environment where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings, and values. Each person's struggles and triumphs are unique, and each client is the best expert on themselves. My first therapeutic goal is to see and understand you as you see and understand yourself. Then collaboratively, we can forge a new path forward.

I draw from several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailoring my methods to meet your individual needs:

  • CBT helps you identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress and unhelpful behaviors. This approach focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, providing practical tools to break cycles of anxiety, depression, and other challenges. It's particularly effective for developing coping strategies you can use in your daily life.

  • This approach explores how your early relationships and childhood experiences shape your current relationship patterns. Imago therapy helps you understand why you're drawn to certain types of people and relationships, often recreating familiar dynamics from your past. By recognizing these patterns, you can make more conscious choices in relationships and heal old wounds that may be affecting your current connections.

  • This approach examines how unconscious thoughts and past experiences influence your current behavior and relationships. Psychodynamic therapy helps you gain insight into patterns that may be outside your conscious awareness, often rooted in early life experiences. Through this deeper understanding, you can make lasting changes and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

  • This collaborative approach helps you explore and resolve ambivalence about making changes in your life. Rather than telling you what to do, motivational interviewing helps you discover your own reasons and motivation for change. It's particularly effective when you're feeling stuck or conflicted about taking steps toward your goals, honoring your autonomy while supporting your growth.

  • This method focuses on identifying and building upon your existing strengths, resources, and resilience rather than dwelling solely on problems or deficits. It recognizes that you already possess many of the tools needed for healing and growth. By highlighting your capabilities and past successes, this approach helps boost confidence and empowers you to create positive change in your life.

How to Get Started

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate this journey alone. I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss your concerns and determine if we're a good fit to work together.

During our consultation, we'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and how I might be able to help. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions about the therapeutic process or my approach
